You see DTX KICK is sent at MIDI#33, and this needs to be mapped to either #36 or #35 if your VSTi is General MIDI. Here is my MIDI editor keynames file that I use with DTXPLORER Luckily REAPER is as good at this as any, and in my opinion the best VSTi host there is, currently. PS, I just read your post and you said that you are 'new to pc recording' You will be needing help as this is not the easiest thing to do.

I'll update this post soon with a txt for the map, you load this into the REAPER MIDI editor, it will show you the notes that DTXPLORER uses for the 9 triggers, and what they should be for the GM drum/percussion map. Good luck, you may need to find a friendly EZ Drummer user with a template and tips, but if you have more questions about DTXPLORER, I'm OK. I usually send the DTXPLORER MIDI to the sampler sfz or sfz+, or other drum VSTi's. I use the plugin JS MIDI transpose to remap the snare and kick to GM. Off the top of my head snare is the G below, Kick is A or B. The DTXPLORER sends GM map on HH Toms, Crash and Ride but for some reason Kick and Snare are not mapped GM. ) or 2) The DTXPLORER MIDI needs to be mapped to your EZ Drummer. I say possibly because 1) you may not have got your audio routing right (you'll need a track template for EZ Drummer, sorry I can't help here, don't use it. Now if you play around the kit you should see a MIDI activity light on the record armed REAPER track meter, and possibly also hear some audio. Right click the name and then in the drop-down menu 'enable' the port.Ģ) put a new track into your project and add your drum VSTi, such as EZ drummer, record arm the track and then right click the record arm button and follow the menus to > MIDI recoding > your USB MIDI port, and then select 'all channels' You should recognize the name of your USB MIDI interface in a list. Go to Options>Preferences>MIDI devices (you'll find it just under your Audio Device options) To enable MIDI recording in REAPER there is a two part process,ġ) enable the physically connected MIDI interface.

Ok, I'm assuming you have a USB MIDI port that is plug and play, or that you were able to install it properly. Hi again, glad you found the right part of the forum.
